The first thing I do is scan to see what unit they are in. Then I breathe a sigh of relief when it's not a unit that includes anyone I know. A horrible way to react, but it's just gut instinct.
The second thing I do is read their ages.
The third thing I do is wonder if they had a wife and kids.
blogs.tampabay.com/standingbyjan wesnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00710300357473480470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9587882.post-63053479730553768692007-03-22T19:08:00.000-07:002007-03-22T19:08:00.000-07:00Prayers for all.Prayers for all.Lauriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13453105465334116413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9587882.post-45489862363888777582007-03-22T16:26:00.000-07:002007-03-22T16:26:00.000-07:00we don't get the velvet hammers. I keep my eyes open for any of our groups, but since our Guard unit is in support of so many task forces.. we just wait for the local media to let us know. I always hate that moment when I say oh it's NOT my husband, friend... and the guilt that slams in right after that. When my son was there I did the same thing! It wasn't MY child, but it was SOMEONE'S child, someone else's heart was broken. This is a lot of guilt to carry around.

LAWliberal army wifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07182419669662838404noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9587882.post-38425536567764403872007-03-22T16:17:00.000-07:002007-03-22T16:17:00.000-07:00Prayers from here for this soldier's family and hi...Prayers from here for this soldier's family and his fellow heroes.
