Let Them Go to Hell!

So I'm watching a Fox News story on Iraqi expatriates in the U.S. voting in the Iraq elections in Michigan... and the reporter is interviewing Iraqis who have voted and they are 100% unanimously elated and delighted to be able to vote -- and so desperately proud of their purple fingers!

And they are showing pictures of the Iraqis who are taking their children to the polls because they want their children to be part of history!
Then they are interviewing a 77-year-old Grandmother -- an Iraqi who fled Iraq when Saddam took power -- and she tells the interviewer in no uncertain terms that she thanks the Americans because if it wasn't for the Americans, they wouldn't have this chance today. And then she says -- wagging her finger at the camera,
"ANYONE WHO DOESN'T APPRECIATE WHAT AMERICANS HAVE DONE -- WHAT PRESIDENT BUSH HAS DONE -- LET THEM GO TO HELL!"
Priceless. Absolutely priceless.
Here's the print story from Fox -- you can not deny the glee or optimism -- the HOPE of these people in going to the polls! GO IRAQ! GO!
God (by all the names the people of the world call you), please hold the Iraqi voters and all the soldiers and police protecting them in your loving hands. God, let all those who love and yearn for peace prosper in this election. Let Freedom ring (and Our Guys all come home!) Amen.

I've been reading your post on and off for a while...I found you through Smink's blog. I never left any comments before, but a couple of your last posts really got my attention. You see, I recently saw a son off who was being deployed to Iraq. He's in Kuwait now, waiting to go north. Your post about what to expect when a son deploys was wonderful, and I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind. But this post, talking about the positive attitudes in Iraq and the old woman telling people who didn't agree to go to hell was priceless. Thanks for the good news. In looking back through some of you recent posts, I see that FOX news had a special, which I missed, about all the positive stuff going on over there. That's what I like to see on TV, and what my son's young wife wants to see, too. Thanks again for your suggestions, and drop by to see me... :)

It is good to see the stories of the elections, and how happy people are to be voting. The Sunni's are participating this time around, which is even more encouraging.

Hopefully all goes well in the main voting today.

Happened to catch the video of the Iraqi woman telling everybody what she thought - couldn't keep from hollering "Amen" at the TV. Our wonderful military has outdone itself - I couldn't be more proud of them all.

Delighted to hear "your guys" will be coming home. Prayers for their safety until then... Katy
